Q&A With February’s Featured Editor: Naomi Birbach
Naomi Birbach is an Associate in Goodwin’s New York office.
BMW: When you were 8, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Naomi: I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was young. I wrote a “what I want to be when I grow up” essay around this age about my future life as a lawyer in Manhattan that was filled with details about workwear and lunch choices, with passing references to “going to court.” I also had a hobby at this age of making concoctions from leftovers that led to an interest and eventual college major in chemistry. At some point along the road, I realized that patent litigation combined these two interests and haven’t looked back. And as it turns out, my naïve 8-year old self was not entirely off-base.
BMW: When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
Naomi: I am a born and bred New Yorker from Queens, and as a result I am a straight shooter. People come to me for help when they are looking for someone to tell it like it is.
BMW: What motivates you to work in the life sciences/biosimilars field?
Naomi: I love that I am challenged every day to think about new issues as science and the law continue to evolve. The fact that our work has a real world impact on the lives of many people makes it even better.
