Meet the Editor – July 2020

Q&A with July’s Featured Editor: Grace Truong

Grace Truong is an associate in Goodwin’s New York Office.

BMW: What is an interesting fact about you?

Grace: I used to be a beekeeper. I started beekeeping when I lived in the Philippines and continued the hobby once I moved back to the U.S. for law school. I joined our university’s beekeeping club, and we primarily took care of two hives – one was a glass observation hive at the university’s Museum of Natural History, and the other hive was located on the rooftop of a freshman dorm (much to the residents’ dismay.)

BMW: When you were 8, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Grace: When I was younger, I wanted to be a scientist. I stuck with this dream throughout undergrad, where I got the chance to work at a genetics research center. But after four years of working in a lab with 600 angry mice, I realized that I might enjoy working with people slightly more than working with mice. I figured that law would be a welcome change.

BMW: What motivates you to work in the life sciences/biosimilars field?

Grace: The nexus between patent law, life sciences, and regulatory matters is dynamic and constantly evolving. I’m grateful to be in a field where I am challenged to think about new issues that accompany advances in science and the law. Knowing that our work may have a real impact on public health makes the field exciting and rewarding.
